The Unofficial Hierarchy of Handbags

Lets call this the first draft. It's definitely a draft because I'm waiting for input on what to add or fix ;)

These are the main things I considered when putting this tier of luxury handbags together:

Accessibility, Sales, and Target Markets

Let’s start with accessibility, “how easy is it to get an item with this label?” I've got to plan my spending on something like Prada and it usually entails a small trip. While Michael Kors just needs a drivers license and a shopping addiction to acquire a piece. And designers like Chanel, you just don’t even see where I’m from. So the more tedious it is to get a piece or even say, create a client profile with a designer, the higher it is going to be on the luxury list

As for sales lets use Louis Vuitton as a baseline. LV prides their label on never having a sale, because they don't need to. Meanwhile there's outlets like Kate Spade that I frequent heavily for holidays. If the 2nd hand market is saturated with a certain label, it's most likely one with infrequent sales and therefore good profitability off of used items. Profitability off of a resale means a solid spot on the higher end of luxury.

And when it comes to Target Markets lets use Hermes v Coach. For instance, Hermes doesn't brand themselves for high school hallways or dorm rooms, Coach does that. Coach targets a younger audience. A younger audience will move the label to the lower end of the list.

Keep in mind, being on the list is like getting into the club, it’s a big deal to be a brand that is even ON the list. So with all of that in mind, let’s take a look at my personal version of the hierarchy of luxury labels.
